Pewaukee and Wisconsin Lutheran Split Conference Doubleheader

Pewaukee and Wisconsin Lutheran split a conference doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at WCTC in a match-up of state-ranked teams in Division 2.  

Game 1 - Pewaukee 8   Wisconsin Lutheran 4

The Pirates rode the left arm of junior LHP Travis Bentley to a win in game 1.  Bentley went 6 innings and earned the win, allowing just 2 hits and 1 earned run.  He struck out 6 batters and pitched around 6 walks.  Sophomore RHP Grant Ross pitched the final inning.

The Pirates had the bases loaded and 2 outs in the 6th inning, with the game tied 3-3, when junior 3B Josh Cottrill lined a single to left field to score 2 runs and give Pewaukee a 5-3 lead.  Freshman Logan Dobberstein followed with a pinch-hit, RBI single to make the score 6-3 and give the Pirates some breathing room.

Cottrill was the offensive star for Pewaukee, going 3-4 with 2 RBI's.  Junior LF Elliot Mueller was 2-5 with 2 runs scored.  Ross had a triple and scored 2 runs.  Senior 1B David Bell had an RBI double.  Senior C Josh Geisel drove in 2 runs and scored 2 runs.  

Game 2 - Wisconsin Lutheran 12   Pewaukee 6

Wisconsin Lutheran jumped out to a 7-0 lead after 2 innings and held off a late Pewaukee rally to win game 2.  

Sophomore RHP Grant Ross started on the mound for the Pirates, worked 2 innings, and took the loss.  Junior RHP Josh Cottrill went 1.2 innings, freshman LHP Carson Hansen went 2.2 innings, and junior RHP Quinn Berglin worked the final inning.

Senior C Masen Beatty led the way offensively, going 3-4 with a double.  Ross drove in 2 runs.
